The Pura Raza Española was bred at the Carthusian monasteries of Andalusia while most of Europe was still breeding for the plough. Collection — the lowered haunches and raised forehand modern dressage prizes — is not something the PRE learns. It is something it was bred to do before the discipline had a name.

For the buyer: ANCCE papers and grading matter, imports need patient logistics, and the old-fashioned type will not out-extend a purpose-bred German horse at the top of FEI sport. What it offers instead is presence, partnership and a neck you never tire of looking down.
